About Us
Welcome to our school, where we offer exceptional care and early childhood education for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our full day, 5 day per week childcare program, which spans from infants to Pre-K, ensures that your child receives comprehensive and age-appropriate learning opportunities. With 16 classrooms, 50+ teachers and support staff, we prioritize the well-being and development of every child. As an all-inclusive program, your child will receive snacks and additional programming that is included in your monthly tuition. Welcome to Our Classroom!
Our early childhood education classrooms at Highlands Academy are designed to provide exceptional care and education to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old. With a full-day, five-day-per-week program, we offer a comprehensive learning experience for our students. Each classroom is thoughtfully designed to foster a nurturing and stimulating environment, where children can thrive and develop to their fullest potential. With the Experience Curriculum, “Every activity and project integrates 2-3 skills from the domains of learning. Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Language and Literacy Development, Mathematics and Reasoning Development, Social Studies Development, Science Development, Creative Development.
INFANT
Infant classrooms serve children ages 6 weeks up to 18 months. There are ten babies enrolled in each classroom with three Infant Nursery Supervisor (INS) teachers. Our Infant daycare classrooms use responsive caregiving to follow individual routines based on the child’s needs. These classrooms enroll throughout the year and students transition to toddlers between 16 and 18 months.
TODDLERS
Our toddler classrooms serve children 15 months up to 36 months. In these childcare classrooms, children begin to learn routine and the schedule becomes a bit more structured. Toddler classrooms have large and small group activities where social and academic skills are introduced. Fine motor muscles are developing and being strengthened, and language development is a large focus for this age group. Toilet learning can be introduced in these classrooms as the teachers partner with families when the time is right.
EARLY PRESCHOOL
Early preschool classes are a transitional classroom for children 2-3 and 3-4. These classrooms range from 16-20 children and 3 teachers. The early preschool classes have a more social focused program and we heavily partner with the families with toilet learning and routine rules in the classroom. Both levels of classrooms will add opportunities for academic learning embedded in play. Reading, writing and arithmetic are integrated in the play-based experiences
PRE-KINDERGARTEN
Our Pre-K childcare program is designed with Kindergarten Readiness in mind. Our Pre-K teachers curate the themes and subjects for their classrooms based on student interests and guide children through learning utilizing on-going authentic assessment that allows them to provide support or challenges for individual students as they prepare them for Kindergarten.
